In the words of Drew Wagar (whom I have been consistently envious off as he knocks off his targets one by one on this epic journey of Elite fiction) : WE'VE HIT A MAJOR MILESTONE.
Actually, it is THE milestone.. the only one I really had sight of in my disorganised mind... pressing the keys to write those monumental two words at the bottom of the last page...
It took me longer than originally planned to get to the last 3 chapters, but that was down to feedback from the fabulous Fantastic Publishing editors... at least in part. I will admit a little fear at tackling the end game and finding the right words to roll out the conclusion of this interstellar tale of bad luck, bad language, and some extremely bad taste murder scenes!!
I had to restart one chapter entirely after fretting so much about it that a friend finally made me realise it must be because it wasn't good enough! We all need friends like these.. and from the bottom of my heart I thank those people around me who have been a constant support...
I'm not going to write an Oscars speech (and you know who you are anyway) as there is still work to be done! I need to thoroughly edit chapters 23 and up (chapters 1 to 22 have already been re-edited after Fantastic's comments and sent back for final editing, so we're actually well ahead of the game there). I plan to do this over the next week and get them off for approval at both Fantastic & with the lovely Michael Brooks at Frontier as soon as possible. I don't expect there to be any issues with Frontier approval as my story is really about the characters and their emotions so I have tried to steer clear of technical sand-traps.
I am booked into the audio recording suite at the end of February, so there is plenty to do, but plenty of time to get it done.
For now though I'm going to enjoy this moment. Maybe go out for a walk and remind myself what outside looks like?
Thanks to all of you for your continued support and interest - and now I can officially say I am pretty proud of what I have written. I think it is going to entertain you - I hope so anyway. And I abso-blooming-lutely cannot wait to get my hands on the game and meet you all out in Slough airspace!!
Peace commanders... and right on!
